Known for its international diplomacy, Geneva is the gateway city to the Swiss Alps and contains many international organisations that lend the lake-side city a cosmopolitan flair. It is filled with the best in cuisine, diverse languages and people, and top 5-star hotels.
It's easy to fly in to Geneva Airport, and like the rest of Switzerland, the public transport system is incredibly efficient. And the antique shops and steep, cobbled streets of the Old Town can be explored by foot or bicycle.
Many of the sights are monumental buildings such as the St Pierre Cathedral, but you can escape the chilly winters inside museums and galleries displaying everything from the Renaissance to the Contemporary.
Even if getting out into the wilderness of the Swiss Alps isn’t an option, there’s plenty of nature accessible within the city limits. Parc des Bastions offers tree-lined walks and a game of giant chess and Parc de la Grange is a green space situated on the Lake Geneva promenade. Jet d'Eau, a 140-metre high fountain in the centre of Lake Geneva is beautifully lit at night.
With over 90 hotels available, Booking.com ensures that whether you are travelling for business or pleasure you can experience the best accommodations Geneva has to offer.
One night is generally enough. Our main interest was the CERN laboratory, which is easily reachable by tram, with travel passes included in the hotel room price. We also had time for a leisurely boat tour of the lake and a visit to the archaelogical site, though we didn't visit the museums, which are also siad to be very good.

It is a quite small city that you can walk almost everywhere historical or popular. public transportation is easy to use and you can go almost everywhere with it. there are nice restaurants and galleries to visit and some museums. if you want to get away for a long weekend and spend quite time Geneva is an alternative. Don't forget to visit close towns by the lake both in Geneva and France, they are very enjoyable and view worth travelling for one or two hours.
Definitely bother to climb the stairs of the cathedral, the view is mesmerizing.

Very beautiful city, loved the lake and the stroll in the city center. Botanical gardnen is lovely and so is the mini zoo and sites in Bois de Batie. It is quite expensive and while people are lovely, you can run into those weithers who understand English but refuse to speak it I only read about in the reviews of sites in France.

Carouge is a unique and super nice district! Enjoyed the cafés, the small stores, the artisanal vibe, art where you look.
Great tramways, bus system - easy to get around. Next time by bike.
The city has lots to offer beside jet d’eau - of course the common chains but check out the area around WHO and Red Cross museum.

A nice city, but it feels like a lot could be seen in little time. I stayed for 2 days and it seemed enough.
The lake is nice, and I like the diversity of restaurants there. A lot of rare birds for France, but handfed by the public, which isn't nice. Public transportation is easliy accessible and it was very nice to get a free illimitated pass even to the boat buses (given by most of the hotels)!
There is also a small open air iceskating ring, a lovely park by the lake and virtual reality experience.
We did walk past a man searching for a fight around 8PM (he was obviously drunk and told us to call the cops, and we had just walked past 3 frightening guys, not so far from the center), and we also saw a cyclist inconscious on the pavement by day with a huge injury on the head... Not feeling really safe there ^^;

Geneva is like a condensed version of Manchester: big buildings, great transport infrastructure, and welcoming people. It is extremely expensive though - 3-4x as much as London, which shocked me.
However it is a bit grotty near the train station (where all the best ethnic food is typically), and I didn't feel totally safe. Interestingly, the RLD felt relatively safe because it was so busy with tourists ogling and locals going about their business. You do get approached by prostitutes but they're friendly enough when you say no so it wasn't anything that made me feel uncomfortable etc.
The parks and gardens are outstanding. I also enjoyed the reptile house near the airport. The coffee and snacks at Boreal are fantastic and they cater for dietary requirements and speak fluent English too, so I spent a lot of time there.
With all this said, Geneva is worthy of a short weekend city break or enjoying a long layover in, but I wouldn't go out of my way to stay there for longer.
The hotel is very cozy, beautiful and located in the heart of the city, 1 min walk to Gare de Cornavin-Central Station of Geneva, which you can take every kind of transports to internal city; 3 mins walk to coach station to travel external city. The staffs are friendly, especially I am impressed with Mr. Jean Christophe- the hotel receptionist. He helped me a lot during the time I stayed in hotel with the smiles on his face. Thank you for the memorable experiences in this hotel. I definitely come back when I travel to Geneva.
This is the best hotel we ever stayed in : modern, conveniently located near airport with the free shuttle, next to the tram station, the hotel provides free tickets. It takes only 15 minutes to reach the center of Geneva. Very comfortable mattress and pillows, bath robes and sleepers provided. Excellent breakfast with a huge variety of food to satisfy every palate, including mine : they made crepes in front of you. I decided to sign up for Marriott membership after staying with them. Definitely we’ll be back.
there was some issues with the pricing in CHF versus $ the add on booking was in dollars which is what I was paid then the owner asked me for 50 CHF due to transection differences which I don't believe i'm responsible for so the pricing need to be more clear for travelers and in one currency.I also think 500 CHF just for cleaning is quite expensive even by Switzerland parameters.
otherwise the place is nice, good location super close to the airport and Geneva city center and we had a good time.
Lots of accommodations! Our host provided things from the basics such as extra blankets to a variety of personal hygiene products like shampoo and body wash! He even offered his whole box of espresso pods since I told him I loved drinking coffee. There is also a portable WiFi router that you can bring with you on your stay, so even if you don’t have an e-sim or SIM card you will have high speed wifi wherever you go as long as you’re within Switzerland.
We went to Switzerland to watch our daughter compete in the World Championship and after we had a couple days to enjoy ourselves. We booked an Airbnb that was awful and quickly jumped on Booking.com and found this place. It was amazing. A large ray of light after abandoning the Airbnb. Clean, staff was friendly and helpful, breakfast was delicious. And location was wonderful. I highly recommend it
Great stay, in the city centre, next to the train station, H&M shop, restaurants, 7 min walk to the geneva lake.
Friendly and helpful staff, parking is 3 min walk from the hotel (27 CHF per day but we had some discount card from the hotel and paid 15!).
There are sockets in the room for Europe, UK, US plugs which was useful). Bottle of water, kettle, tea, coffee, hair dryer.
The hotel was a good choice ! It is literally located next to the train station and just a few minutes away from the airport, where you can go by the freeshuttle provided by the hotel. By taking the train, you are only 10 minutes away from the center of Geneva. The room was very large and clean. The breakfast included many options and it was very tasty.
- very clean and comfortable studios
- Lidl right next to the hotel to easily stock up your fridge
- easily connected to airport and city centre via free bus rides (the hotel will give you a transportation card to use all of geneva public transport for free during your stay)
- very welcoming hotel staff
the ability to have three real beds and the loft configuration for 3rd bed. The beds are firm but better than most in Switzerland. We had apt in Zurich and Bern and both a little less comfortable pillows in Switzerland need some work.
Very modern and clean all round, there is a bus that arrive basically right outside the hotel. Trams can head toward both airport or the city centre. Only 20 min by walk to airport if needed, so good central location to explore Geneva.
Great location for easy public transport access to Geneva City Centre. The hotel was also spotlessly clean, our room was very comfortable l, the inclusive breakfast was delicious and the staff were very helpful.
The hotel.was perfect and suitable for a short break. Breakfast is OK and the location is excellent for going out to eat and for the train station to explore more of Geneva or Switzerland 🇨🇭
The hotel is at the city centre at a walking distance from the bus station, Geneva Lake and high street. The staff was very friendly and cooperative. It was overall a very good experience.
Fabulous hotel close to the train station, wonderful and friendly staff. Beautifully decorated with the best hotel shower! This will be my go-to hotel in Geneva from now on.
